The City of Rock Hill enacted a false alarm ordinance in 2006 to encourage proper use of alarm systems and reduce false alarm calls. The alarm permit is an important part of the ordinance because it requires alarm users to provide the Rock Hill Police Department with the names, addresses and phone numbers of two people who can respond to the location of the activated alarm if the need arises.
Alarm Registration: All alarm users must register with the Rock Hill Police Department. This requires providing the names, addresses, and phone numbers of two people who can respond to the location if the alarm is activated
No Cost to Register: Registration is free. You can complete the Easy Online Registration Form or the printable PDF form and email it to alarmreg@cityofrockhill.com
Purpose: The permit ensures that if an alarm is triggered, trained responders can quickly arrive to investigate, reducing the need for unnecessary police or fire dispatches.
If an alarm is activated and later determined to be a false alarm, the City charges escalating fees:
First & Second: No fee
Third, Fourth, Fifth: $50 each
Sixth, Seventh: $100 each
Eighth, Ninth, Tenth: $200 each
Over 10 activations: $500 each
