How much is the new permit?
The fee is $27 for your new, one-year permit. The annual renewal charge is $17.

How often do I have to renew my alarm permit?
Permits must be renewed every year. Your annual renewal deadline will be one year (365 days) from the date your alarm permit was issued.

I have never had an alarm permit, who is required to get a permit? Anyone who operates, connects or maintains an alarm system at a particular location within Oklahoma City corporate limits must have an alarm permit.

How much is the penalty for false alarms?
The ordinance provides for an excessive false alarm fee of $82 when the Police Department responds and $135 if the Fire Department is responds to the location. Alarms are considered excessive if there are more than three false alarms within any 365 days.

   • New Customers: If you have never registered online before, enter your email address in the NEW USER side of the page, and a password will be emailed to you. Remember to check your SPAM folder if you do not see the email. The email should arrive within 5 minutes.
   • Payments for Registrations: If you register online, the system will generate an invoice, and mail out to you. If no payment is due, the online registration can be updated anytime during the year. You will be considered registered with a temporary 30 day expiration date immediately after you submit.

   • Annual Registration Fees
     • Annual registration for residential alarm locations will be $30
     • Annual registration for business alarm locations will be $100

     Although you may register as of October 1, 2026, there will be no enforcement of Failure to Register or False Alarm fees until December 1, 2026.

     After that date, if police respond to an intrusion or hold-up/panic alarm at an alarm site that has not been registered, the alarm user will be charged a failure to register fee.

     Failure to Register Fees
     • Failure to register fee for residential alarms will be $60
     • Failure to register fee for business alarms will be $200

                 False Alarm Fees

                 Registered alarm sites will be allowed a number of free false alarm responses during the registration year depending on the                     type of location. Unregistered alarm locations will be allowed no free false alarm responses.

• Registered residential alarm sites will be allowed 2 free false alarms per registration year.
• Registered business alarm sites will be allowed 3 free false alarms per registration year.

The False alarm response fee will depend upon the type of location, the type of alarm and the number of false alarms at that location.

• 1 to 2 = $0 (Unregistered residences will pay $50 / $100 for their first two false alarms)
• 3 to 5 = $50 / $100
• 6 to 7 = $100 / $200
• 8 plus Alarms = $150 / $300

Registered Business False Alarm Fees
Number of Responses Intrusion Alarm or Hold-up/Panic Alarm

• 1 to 3 = $0 (Unregistered businesses will pay $100 / $200 for their first three false alarms)
• 4 to 5 = $100 / $200
• 6 to 7 = $200 / $400
• 8 plus Alarms = $300 / $600

Registered alarm users will have access to an appeals process to dispute false alarm fees if the alarm response was the result of a genuine alarm.
